The Camargue region is part of Rhône River delta and is known for its cheval (horses), taureau (bulls), flamant (flamingoes) and French cowboys. During the summertime its flooded with hoards of tourists taking in the warmth and jostling for a piece of the sights and scenes of its natural beauty. But thankfully we were there just the other day (i.e late-fall/winter) when it was almost devoid of people. We had the beautiful seaside town of Saintes-Marie-de-la-Mer almost to ourselves! The region is really stunning. I’m coming back for my Camargue horse ride someday soon!
